Leslie Fiorenzo: Conquering Fear Around Public Speaking

About Leslie Fiorenzo:

After failing to win the top prize in a speech contest early in her career, Leslie began her journey toward excellence in public speaking. Her unique approach comes from over 30 years spent in corporate HR environments using the skills she now teaches. Leslie has achieved a number of certifications and a master’s degree in human resource development. She is author of “Twenty-One Lessons to Master the Difficult Conversation” and the best-seller – “Find Your Voice: Conquer Your Fear & Share Your Story With Confidence” both available on Amazon.

In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Leslie Fiorenzo discuss:

Overcoming public speaking fear through reframing and mindset shifts
Importance of having a pre-presentation plan and strategy
Crafting an impactful opening and closing for presentations
Leveraging stories to connect with the audience
Focusing on a single clear call-to-action

Key Takeaways:

Reframing public speaking fear as excitement can be a powerful mindset shift, and by having open conversations with oneself to replace unhelpful thought patterns, individuals can build the confidence to step out of their comfort zone and embrace speaking opportunities.
Developing a pre-presentation plan helps speakers center themselves and stay focused before taking the stage.
Crafting a strong opening and closing for a presentation is crucial, and an impactful first line that evokes emotion and a clear call-to-action at the end will captivate the audience and leave a lasting impression.
By weaving in relatable narratives, speakers can effectively convey their message and make a meaningful impact.
The ability of network marketers to confidently share their products, services, and opportunities can open doors to new customers, team members, and industry recognition.

“Fear and excitement show up the same exact way, and reframing it into excitement is key.” — Leslie Fiorenzo

Mike Boccia: How to Not Suck at Presentations

About Mike Boccia:
Mike Boccia has been in Sales and Marketing for over 25 years. He’s been called a “serial entrepreneur” since starting his first business, landscaping, at 15. Then came a limo company while attending Hofstra University, a nightclub at 21, a restaurant at 23, and the list goes on.
Mike really honed his sales skills as a licensed advisor with Transamerica Financial Advisors, where he had hundreds of clients in several states (without ever having a customer complaint!). Other reps saw Mike’s success and started asking for his help, and of course, he was happy to oblige. Eventually, he began opening successful financial offices and training advisors to work in them. After seeing the rapid growth, Transamerica soon had Mike speaking at conferences, flying to other offices to train, and attending high-level meetings to discuss the future of the firm. Mike eventually left the financial industry and ventured into the technology space, where he founded iDecide Interactive.
Mike is now an author, speaker, coach, CEO, and most importantly, a father to his 2 beautiful daughters.

In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Mike Boccia discuss:
Importance of Effective Sales Presentations
Common Challenges in Network Marketing
The Creation and Purpose of iDecide
Interactive Automation for Better Engagement
Scalability and Duplication for Leaders

Key Takeaways:
Even with a great product, poor delivery can lead to failure, and the ability to tell a compelling story is just as important as the product itself.
Rejection, lack of confidence, and time-consuming presentations push many to quit.
iDecide ensures every prospect gets a perfect presentation, no matter who shares it; it levels the playing field, allowing even beginners to succeed quickly.
When prospects actively participate in a presentation, the use of interactive elements not only captures their curiosity but also sustains their engagement, making them more likely to stay interested and absorb the information being presented.
Leaders must scale without burning out, and tools like iDecide free up time, allowing leaders to focus on mentorship and expansion.

“If you can’t tell the story and get people interested, you’re broke.” — Mike Boccia

His services include Peak Performance Executive coaching and Inspirational Keynotes.

In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Jeff Koziatek discuss:
Imposter syndrome is common, affecting 82% of people (potentially higher)
Seeking validation from external sources fuels imposter syndrome
Imposter syndrome has a high cost, including loss of presence and connection
Celebrating small victories and “stacking pebbles” helps overcome imposter syndrome
Repetition is key to reinforcing a positive mindset and crushing imposter syndrome

Key Takeaways:
Imposter syndrome is pervasive, but not insurmountable.
Seeking external validation fuels the imposter mindset; instead, cultivating a sense of intrinsic worth can free us from the constant need to prove ourselves to others.
The cost of imposter syndrome is high, robbing us of meaningful connections and present moments.
Celebrating small wins, not just big achievements, is crucial for building confidence, and the “stacking pebbles” approach helps us acknowledge our progress and capabilities.
Repetition is the key to rewiring our mindset.

“Time with your kids, presence in the moment, with people that you care about, the ability to set your own schedule so that you can do stuff like that, yeah, and the confidence that you’ve got to go out and do what’s inside you and bring that out and impact lives, that’s huge.”

Stephen Stott: Embrace the Darkness

About Stephen Stott:

Stephen Stott is a nomadic soul who has moved over 30 times, a queer person of color raised by a single mom, and someone who found resilience after losing his sister Stacy in a car accident they were both in. Growing up without a clear sense of belonging or a roadmap for someone like him, Stephen chose to write his own playbook. Through this journey, he discovered somatic breathwork, which transformed his grief and isolation into connection and purpose. Today, he empowers others to take the challenges life throws at them and turn them into fuel for their dreams. Stephen’s story is a testament to the power of transformation, proving that anyone ready to take the first breath can go from feeling lost to thriving.

In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Stephen Stott discuss:

Importance of networking and making unexpected connections
Transformative power of somatic breath work for grief and self-acceptance
Gentle, customizable approach to breath work versus intense practices
Breath work as a complement or alternative to traditional therapy
Practical applications of breath work for personal and professional growth

Key Takeaways:

Somatic breath work can be a profound tool for personal transformation, helping individuals process deep-seated emotions and find a sense of self-acceptance; and Stephen’s own experience with overcoming grief through breath work is a testament to its transformative potential.
Stephen emphasizes the importance of a gentle, customized approach that meets individuals where they are.
Breath work offers an alternative or complementary approach that taps into the body’s innate wisdom.
The power of breath work extends beyond personal transformation, as it can also enhance one’s ability to show up fully for their family, clients, and other important relationships.
By providing a free, guided breath work session, Stephen demonstrates his commitment to making this transformative practice accessible to a wider audience.

“I try to find the balance of seeing more of a gentle practice, because if people google it, … [they see] people having intense emotions and they’re hitting the ground or that they’re yelling or they’re blowing their eyes out… I help you build the foundation for you to get there, so that when you’re ready to go there, then we can get there together.” — Stephen Stott

Mahesh Guruswamy: How To Deliver Bad News (And Get Away With It!)

About Mahesh Guruswamy:

Mahesh Guruswamy is a seasoned product development executive who has been in the software development space for over twenty years and has managed teams of varying sizes for over a decade. He is currently the chief technology officer at Kickstarter. Before that, he was an executive running product development teams at Mosaic, Kajabi, and Smartsheet.

Mahesh caught the writing bug from his favorite author, Stephen King. He started out writing short stories and eventually discovered that long-form writing was a great medium to share information with product development teams. The essays he wrote over the last few years culminated in his first book “How to Deliver Bad News and Get Away With It” which is out now for purchase here: https://www.amazon.com/How-Deliver-Bad-News-Away/dp/B0D7FHTTNN

In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Mahesh Guruswamy discuss:

Transparency in delivering bad news
Frameworks for delivering critical feedback
Importance of understanding recipient’s personality
Balance between business skills and people skills in leadership
Creating a common language and culture within teams

Key Takeaways:

Being upfront and keeping customers/employees informed goes a long way in managing expectations and maintaining trust, even in difficult situations.
The approach to delivering critical feedback should be tailored to the specific context and recipient.
When providing critical feedback to superiors, it’s important to be mentally prepared for potential backlash or even job loss, and Mahesh advises being ready to handle the worst-case scenario, as the benefits of having the difficult conversation often outweigh the risks.
Incorporating a more people-centric approach can lead to better long-term outcomes.
Establishing behavioral tenets or principles that guide team interactions can create a unifying framework for resolving conflicts and improving communication.

“Companies don’t hire CEOs for their people skills. You look at the most successful leaders in the world, most successful like technology leaders or corporate leaders there, because they can make the impossible happen, right? They have extremely good business skills.” — Mahesh Guruswamy

Mark Miller: Just Because Everyone Can Use Your Product….

About Mark Miller:
Mark is dedicated to helping health-conscious individuals to ensure that they have clean, healthy water in all situations: for drinking water, cooking and cleaning, and especially during emergencies.
And not only enough for your own benefit, but also to be able to help others when there is an emergency even if there is no electricity.
Mark is the owner of Safer Cleaner Water, and he is on a mission to help raise awareness around the importance of safe, clean water in all homes, given that water is our most vital, life-giving and necessary resource.

In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Mark Miller discuss:
Importance of having access to clean, safe water during emergencies
Limitations of relying on bottled water or grocery stores during power outages
Affordable, long-lasting water filtration system that works without electricity
Ecological benefits of reducing plastic bottle waste
Nonprofit “water pool” to provide water systems to those in need

Key Takeaways:
Natural disasters and power outages can disrupt access to clean water, leaving people vulnerable, and Mark’s water filtration system provides a reliable solution to ensure safe drinking water in any emergency.
Mark’s three-in-one system not only saves users money compared to constantly buying bottled water, but it also reduces plastic waste, making it an environmentally-friendly choice for the long-term.
Integrating Mark’s water system into high-ticket health programs can create unique opportunities for entrepreneurs to differentiate their offerings.
Jennie’s idea to donate her affiliate commissions to Mark’s nonprofit “water pool” demonstrates how businesses can collaborate to make a positive impact on communities in need of clean water access.
In the realm of identifying and solving problems, Mark recognized an overlooked issue – the lack of preparedness for water emergencies – and developed an innovative solution.

“If only two people use it for drinking water, instead of having to buy bottled water, that would save them 300% more than what they paid for the system in one year.” — Mark Miller
