Teresa Aker: From Knocking On Doors to Growing Online
About Teresa Aker:
Teresa Aker is a huge proponent of helping others achieve their goals and dreams. Through multi-level marketing with Avon, she had the opportunity to help a team of amazing representatives learn how to sell, become a wonderful group of friends, and grow their businesses to whatever their individual goals were. Teresa achieved the highest award, The President’s Council Award in Sales, and reached the rank of Executive Unit Leader in Leadership, both placing her at the top of the Leader Board.
Prior to that, Teresa was a top seller in real estate during a time when interest rates were so high that people had a very hard time making ends meet, let alone buying a house. She listened to seasoned agents who had been through tough times before and learned how to help her clients buy their homes.
Because Teresa stood for an elected position in politics, she was able to experience the grassroots of her community and the way cities are run—at least the one she lives in. She was thrilled to meet so many amazing people in her community during that time and to learn from their struggles.
In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Teresa Aker discuss:
Transitioning to direct sales from diverse backgrounds
Emotional and professional growth in multilevel marketing
Key leadership strategies for building and nurturing a team
The significant ‘whys’ behind team members’ motivations
The double-edged nature of earning and using incentive rewards
Key Takeaways:
By embracing the shift from selling real estate and industrial glue to flourishing in the Avon environment, the potential for success in direct sales is seen.
It is crucial to understand and support the individual goals of team members, which in turn fosters trust and strengthens the team.
Teresa and Jennie highlight the often-overlooked personal benefits that come with earning incentives.
Addressing one’s confidence and combating imposter syndrome is portrayed as vital in the journey toward success in network marketing, as seen in the story of Laurie’s growth.
Beyond current experiences in direct sales, the journey of continuous learning such as adapting to emerging trends like AI and reading self-development books like ‘Think and Grow Rich’ illustrates the necessity of ongoing personal and professional growth to stay ahead in the game.
“I’m so happy to say my life has really been a journey of helping other people. Whether it be building confidence on the inside or the outside, it really has been a journey of helping… I can’t imagine ever leaving it now.” — Teresa Aker

Jeff Bitton: Get a Referral in 59 Seconds (or less)
About Jeff Bitton:
Jeff is the CEO of Pitch59 Inc., based in Provo, Utah. Having been a small business owner, Jeff knows how expensive, frustrating, and discouraging it can be when trying to grow a business. With 82% of small business owners relying on referrals as their primary source of growth, it’s disheartening that, on average, only 4 out of 100 satisfied customers actually refer the companies they like.
Jeff understands that the reason more happy customers don’t refer businesses is because the traditional process of giving referrals is just too hard and time-consuming. It places the burden and risk of explaining who you are and what you do onto your friends and customers. That’s why, at Pitch59, Jeff believes that no one is better than “you” to pitch your product or service to potential customers.
With PitchCards, business owners can deliver their 59-second elevator pitch—either written or through video—so that others can get to know, like, and trust them. PitchCards also make it incredibly easy to network and get referrals in just a few seconds, revolutionizing the way businesses connect and grow.
In this episode, Jennie Bellinger and Jeff Bitton discuss:
Pitch59’s role in enhancing sales and networking
Jeff Bitton’s journey from farm work to tech entrepreneur
The critical importance of referrals for business growth
The development of Pitch59, including customer-driven features
Advantages of digital pitch cards for direct sales professionals
Key Takeaways:
A digital referral card like Pitch59 can substantially increase sales and exposure for small businesses.
Referrals remain a cornerstone for business expansion, and tools that simplify this process are invaluable.
Personal stories, such as Jeff’s transition from door-to-door sales to creating software, illustrate the evolving nature of sales techniques.
Customer feedback plays a pivotal role in refining tech tools to better serve business needs.
Implementing Pitch59’s new features can transform the way direct sales professionals network and organize contacts.
“You’re literally one pitch away from transforming your business.” — Jeff Bitton
