Jazzy’s Picks: Learning to Love Yourself with Liza Lomax

Episode Description

Jennie is off getting married, so Jazzy is taking over the podcast feed for October and bringing back four of the Badass Direct Sales Mastery episodes that have meant the most to her personally.

And few episodes came into Jazzy’s life at a more important time than this conversation with Liza Lomax.

Shortly before this episode aired, Jazzy had undergone brain surgery and had to shave half of her head. She hated the way she looked, was struggling with depression, and wondered whether she would ever feel like herself again.

This episode challenged her to turn some of the love she so freely gave other people toward herself.

What started with saying three simple words in the mirror eventually helped change the way Jazzy saw herself.

The Top Three Things Jazzy Learned From Liza Lomax

1. Loving yourself deserves to be a priority.
It’s easy to pour love, attention, and energy into everyone around you while leaving very little for yourself.

2. How you see yourself can change.
The person looking back at you in the mirror deserves the same kindness and compassion you would give someone you love.

3. Self-love takes practice.
You don’t necessarily believe the words the first time you say them. Sometimes you have to practice treating yourself with love before you begin to truly feel it.

How Jazzy Implemented the Lessons in This Episode

Jazzy started looking at herself in the mirror and saying:

“I love you.”

At first, those words didn’t necessarily match how she felt.

But she kept saying them.

Eventually, they became true.

And there’s a pretty incredible ending to that story: today, Jazzy still keeps her head shaved—but now it’s because she wants to.

The thing she once hated about her appearance became something she loves and considers part of who she is.
