Jazzy’s Picks: Do It Scared with Jennifer McCune

Episode Description

Jennie’s getting married, Jazzy has taken over the podcast feed, and we’re wrapping up October’s Jazzy’s Picks with an episode about something almost everyone has struggled with:

Fear.

Jennifer McCune’s message isn’t about waiting until you’re fearless.

It’s about doing the scary thing anyway.

This episode helped Jazzy understand that accomplishing something big doesn’t require doing everything perfectly—or doing everything today. Small actions add up. And sometimes growth looks like making the phone call you’re afraid to make, sending the email you’ve been avoiding, accepting the speaking opportunity that terrifies you, and simply showing up.

Fear doesn’t always disappear.

But you can grow anyway.

The Top Three Things Jazzy Learned From Jennifer McCune

1. A little bit every day adds up to something huge.
You don’t have to accomplish the entire goal today. Consistent progress—even when it feels insignificant—moves you toward the bigger picture.

2. Stop waiting to do it perfectly.
Perfection can prevent you from ever starting. Progress happens when you’re willing to take imperfect action.

3. Courage doesn’t mean you’re no longer scared.
Sometimes courage is making the call, sending the email, signing up, or walking onto the stage while you’re still terrified.

And other people’s opinions don’t get to decide which opportunities you’re willing to pursue.

How Jazzy Implemented the Lessons in This Episode

Jazzy started forcing herself to do the scary things.

Make the phone call.

Send the email.

Sign up for the speaking gig.

Show up.

Some of those things eventually became easier.

Others didn’t.

Jazzy still hates speaking in front of people.

But that isn’t really the point.

Because even when the fear hasn’t disappeared, she can look back at the things she once thought she couldn’t do and see how much she’s grown—and how those scary decisions helped shape the person she’s become.
