Bob Burg: Using Go-Giver in Direct Sales
About Bob Burg: Bob Burg is an author and speaker who has helped companies, sales leaders, and their teams to more effectively communicate their value, sell at higher prices with less resistance, and grow their businesses based on Endless Referrals.
His book The Go-Giver which he coauthored with John David Mann, a Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek Bestseller, has sold over a million copies and has been translated into 30 languages.
Bob is the author of a number of books on sales, marketing, and influence, and has been named one of the 30 Most Influential Leaders and one of the Top 200 Most Influential Authors in the World.
He is an advocate, supporter, and defender of the Free Enterprise system, believing that the amount of money one makes is directly proportional to how many people one serves.
He is also an unapologetic animal fanatic and served on the Board of Directors of Furry Friends Adoption and Clinic in his town of Jupiter, Florida.
In this episode, Jennie and Bob discuss:
- Bob’s golden rule of networking
- What being a go-giver actually means
- Being a giver has nothing to do with being a doormat
Key Takeaways:
- All things being equal, people will do business with and refer business to those people they know, like, and trust.
- Being a go-giver is about shifting your focus from getting to giving by constantly and consistently providing immense value to others. By focusing less on what you’re going to get from the sales process, you create a phenomenal, value-based experience that’s worth 10 times 100 times more than any money you may exchange.
- Being a go-giver doesn’t mean you’re everyone’s doormat. Your influence comes from the extent to which you put other people’s interests above your own.
- The only way you can earn a whole lot of money is by serving a whole lot of people with exceptional value.
“Giving attracts. When you do it genuinely and authentically, you have their best interests at heart that inspires trust.” – Bob Burg

Pure Romance is now her full-time career and she gets the luxury of making her own schedule.
Dana has 2 young girls, a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old, and is married to a handsome Canadian man with a great beard! - There’s also beauty in joining the bandwagon. Aside from reaching many people, platforms like Tiktok allow you to have fun making short videos and educating people all at the same time.
- Plan some content with a group of people within your business, look for trending sounds and save a couple and see how you can relate them to your business.
“Done is better than perfect. Just do it – just be a person connecting with other people, making relationships, genuinely adding value, educating and trying to help serve them.” – Dana McWilliam

Megan Robinson: Great Leadership Starts with Self Leadership
About Megan Robinson: Megan is the principal at E Leader Experience and works with individuals and teams to develop self-leadership skills that grow companies. She started her career in marketing climbing her way through the corporate ladder at advertising agencies and fortune 500 companies. Like many of us, she caught the entrepreneur bug and started her own marketing company. After yet another “Business Therapy” session, Megan discovered her true passion was in coaching and is a John Maxwell certified coach and DiSC Trainer. In addition, she is the Past President of ATDChi the leading learning and development organization in Chicagoland. Inspired by her own successful career in corporate and entrepreneurial environments, Megan makes leadership approachable for everyone, regardless of title, position, or experience.
In this episode, Jennie and Megan discuss:
- Leadership is influence.
- How can you build your influence?
- Setting boundaries
Key Takeaways:
- A leader without a follower is just a guy out for a walk – you have to take the lead and see who’s willing to follow you and if those around you are willing to do the same.
- Great leadership starts with self-leadership. Have a clear vision and be intentional with your actions because you can’t lead yourself if you don’t know where you’re going.
- Setting boundaries is about letting someone know what you need in a clear, direct way. It’s not about controlling, it’s holding them accountable.
“Servant leadership is often how people show up with their clients – like you have to serve the client, you give up your own hours, and you let your boundaries get crossed. That’s what went wrong with your leadership.” – Megan Robinson

- Facts tell, stories sell
- How to build your story
- Getting to know your audience

- The key to building rapport is knowing your audience and reading them and understanding their personalities.
“When it comes to sales, the best way to use story is to try and figure out your audience – who they are, what they want, what their needs are, and then match those stories so that they can see themselves in that environment, they can see themselves in that vision in that scenario with that product.” – Stephanie Paul

A child abuse and domestic violence survivor who reclaimed her life after 30 years of combined abuse, she wants other women to know that everything they need to build their confidence is within them already, and she can guide them in their journey to transform into something beautiful.

- Realizing your capability
- Self-worth versus self-esteem
Key Takeaways:

Cynthia Height: Tell Your Story To Grow
About Cynthia Height: Cynthia is an author of a women’s empowerment blog and network marketing rep of a beauty brand helping women step out of their shadows and truly shine. She is a natural storyteller, enrolling people into her mission and vision, and helping others see what is possible when they say yes to opportunities to be the biggest, brightest version of themselves. She weaves stories into her content to tell not only about her journey but to share about the journey of others who are on the road to greatness.
In this episode, Jennie and Cynthia discuss:
- How Cynthia got into the world of storytelling
- Using story to build your network marketing business
- The five-step framework for writing your story
- The power of sharing your story
Key Takeaways:
- Storytelling is one of the best ways to connect with people because it’s where people get to know, like, and trust you. From there, your impact will grow.
- You can build your brand by telling your own story. Let them get a sense of who you are, what your struggles are, and your experiences, and they’ll feel connected to different parts of your story since it resembles something they are experiencing as well.
- Writing a story means hooking your audience, taking them into your struggle, sharing the cure, sharing the transformation, and making them believe that they can have the same transformation.
- When each of us shares more of ourselves, it gives all of us permission to be ourselves, and all this will come from sharing your story. You may flop every time you put yourself out there, but your skill and belief will grow.
“Being able to share the little vulnerable parts of you like parts of your past that people will relate to, that’s where the customers are going to come from. That’s where the connections are going to come from.” – Cynthia Height

- As a network marketer, you have the freedom to run your business however you like, and you can focus more on the things that bring you joy.
- It’s more than physically supporting your body; there are emotional aspects of it that are out of balance, which creates an imbalance in your physical body. Keeping your mental health in check should always be your top priority.
